Really a must-visit site for people interested in the wonderful field of metallography. Gives a nice outlay for the basics of metallography. But it would be great if you could include the in depth description of the principles behind , and the construction & theory behind the illumination techniques. Also please include information regarding the effects obtained by using two illumination techniques simultaniously , and the comparison involved for them.

Anyone looking for an inexpensive digital camera for metallography should consider the professional model from Pixera. It offers excellent bang for the buck. I found it was superior to other cameras that were 5X the price.Anyone looking for image acquistion and database software should consider Quartz PCI. It doesn't do image/blob analysis, but it does a good job of colour/contrast manipulation and excellent archiving capabilities.Quartz Imaging CorporationWest Vancouver, B.C. Hi Rich Carrano,I finally found the site. I guess I wasn't using two "l's".The last time we spoke you mentioned that you were working on a new sterling alloy. How's that coming? I do so much sterling casting and having an alloy that bypasses firescale concerns (with the silicon problems) would be a great boon to my customers and therefor to myself. Let me know if I can do some product testing in my shop for you. I'm using the alloy that Michol suggested and having good results. Thank her for me if you remember. Thank you. John, J.A. Thanks for the links to Structure Magazine. I also noticed in your FAQ room that people have requested books about metallography. Struers offers the Metalog Guide free of charge to qualified metalllographers. The Metalog Guide is a complete information resource designed to help metallographers perform grinding and polishing more effectively. It is also available on-line at our website. Please feel free to link to this site. I hope that you will contact me if you have any questions. ThanksChris SopkoDirector of MarketingStruers Inc.
