I am trying to remove small amounts of a material for metallographic and XRD purposes. I want to do this without the influence of mechanical grinding. I have limited experience with electropolishing. Some of the electrolytes recommended work great and some don't. A salt solution is super but is a little too aggressive for some materials. I would like to use a Perchloric based electrolyte but I can't get it to draw any current. What am I doing wrong?
