Here is a suggestion that was posted in response to a similar question.

"The best etch for zinc is to not etch but use crossed polarized light. It shows the structure vividly, as long as it is properly prepared. If you insist on etching, many are listed in (the)book, Metallography, Principles and Practice (McGraw-Hill, 1984) and other sources, e.g., ASM Metals Handbook on Metallography and Petzows etching book." - GV
