Acceptance of AMS5572 (310S tubing) requires electrolytic etching a metallographic specimen in a 10% solution of NaCN for inspection at 500X for carbide precipitates. Is this a common etchant? Can someone recommend other details to be followed such as voltage/current, vessel material, electrode material, etc. Does anyone have a reference micrograph of a similar specimen electro-etched with NaCN? — Thanks!
