Hello, I am working on the 2618 alloys, it mainly containing these phases: Al2Cu, Al2CuMg, Al9FeNi, Al7Cu4Ni, Al7Cu2Fe. I want to find an etching method to distinguish these different phases, especially the Fe&Ni-contaning phases.
I am looking for a proper etchant to make these phases show different colours in order to do further image analysis. But it is really a chanllenging work and hard to find out the proper etchant.
So I need some help about the colour etching of Fe&Ni containing phases from you experts!
