I found this suggestion by searching the archives using the keyword Cronidur:
"I have had success etching Cronidor 30 ( X 30 ) using a modified metabisulfide etch. 2% HCl, 1% K2S2O5 and NH4FHf in distilled water. Marbles reagent will etch these steels, but not as well."
